Kanpur: Police arrested a 35-year-old daily-wager late Saturday after registering a case over a viral social media video allegedly showing him abusing and threatening to kill the Prime Minister and UP chief minister .
The accused was identified as Bablu Paswan, a resident of Pargaiyan Bangar village in the Bithoor police station area, police said. The video showed Paswan using abusive and objectionable words against the Prime Minister and chief minister and also threatening to kill them, according to the complaint. Paswan was working at a flat in Nankari, Kalyanpur, when the alleged incident occurred, according to the FIR. Police said an unidentified person allegedly recorded the video and circulated it on social media.
Amit Malik, sub-inspector in charge of Kalyanpur police station’s IIT outpost, received information about the video circulating on social media. Kalyanpur station in charge Keshav Kumar Tiwari said Paswan was arrested following a tip-off and sent to jail on Sunday.
