Lucknow: A sessions court in Bahraich on Wednesday sentenced a woman and her lover to life imprisonment for the murder of her husband in the Dargah Sharif police station area in 2021.
Sessions Judge Rajesh Kumar Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each on the two convicts Ashiya alias Zarina and Sonu alias Munawwar. On the night of April 29, 2021, the victim was sleeping at home, according to the prosecution. The then investigating officer, inspector Amit Kumar Tiwari, collected evidence and recorded statements of witnesses before filing a chargesheet against the two accused on June 11, 2021. The court framed charges against them on July 12, 2021.
The following morning, his wife Ashiya informed his father, Mustafa, that her husband was lying dead. Mustafa suspected that his son had been killed by Ashiya and Sonu, a resident of the same village. Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered at Dargah Sharif police station. During the investigation, police found that Ashiya was in a relationship with Sonu and that the two had committed the murder together. After completion of the trial and examination of the evidence presented before it, the court found both accused guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
