Lucknow: Police on Tuesday announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to the arrest of Jai Krishna Tiwari (25) in connection with the murder of transporter Dhirendra Pratap Singh (40). Jai Krishna is the younger brother of arrested driver Ravi Kishore Tiwari (28) and investigators suspect he helped arrange the pistol allegedly used in the killing.

Singh was shot dead inside his SUV on Aug 30 after sustaining bullet injuries to the chest and head, police said. Investigators allege he was offered a Rs 40-lakh contract to eliminate Singh amid an Rs 8-crore property dispute in Unnao. During questioning, Ravi reportedly told police he bought the pistol for Rs 70,000 from Gomti Nagar Extension.

Police said the body was recovered after Ravi provided information during interrogation. The blood-stained vehicle was later recovered, while the victim’s body was allegedly dumped in a canal near an orchard in Sarai Prem Raj, Dubagga. Police have formed a team to trace Jai Krishna, citing his criminal antecedents. An associate of Ravi, Onkar Sahu, has also been arrested and sent to judicial custody for allegedly assisting in disposing of the body.

Ravi was arrested on Monday.
