Lucknow: In an intensive checking drive against unauthorised passenger vehicles and motorists violating traffic regulations across the state capital, traffic police seized 35 vehicles and issued 3,570 challans.
Of the 3,570 challans, 1,368 were issued for riding two-wheelers without helmets, 712 for no-parking violations, 450 for driving on the wrong side, 137 for defective number plates, 61 for operating vehicles without valid insurance and 85 for triple riding on two-wheelers. During the campaign, police issued 33 challans, seized 28 modified silencers and impounded one vehicle. The cops also launched a special enforcement drive against two-wheelers fitted with illegally modified silencers to curb noise pollution and inconvenience caused to the public.
