Free travel to women aged 60 years and above in UPSRTC buses from Aug 28
Lucknow: The govt has decided to provide free travel facilities on ordinary buses of UPSRTC to resident women of UP, aged 60 years and above, under the ‘Lokmata Ahilya Bai Matru Shakti Yatra Yojana’.
Separate instructions regarding the issuance of smart cards to beneficiaries for free travel will be issued as required, said the minister. Based on this verified statement, the govt will directly release the reimbursement funds to the UPSRTC. To avail the facility, women will have to present their Aadhaar card or voter ID card. For the free journey, a zero-fare ticket will be issued via the ETIM (Electronic Ticket Issuing Machine) based on the Aadhaar or voter ID card; the ticket will display the bus number as well as the journey’s starting point and destination. UPSRTC would calculate the actual free travel data and the corresponding reimbursement amount. The corporation will submit a consolidated, verified statement regarding the actual free journeys, reimbursement due, and actual expenditure to the transport department every month.
