Lucknow: The Vigilance Establishment has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Ramnaresh Sonkar, who is currently serving as the deputy director of the Mandi Parishad in Banda. The allegations involve Sonkar possessing assets that are disproportionate to his known sources of income. Notably, Sonkar has previously held a position in Gonda.
Vigilance Inquiry Reveals Alleged Financial Discrepancies
A vigilance inquiry has uncovered that Sonkar and his family reported earnings of ₹67.82 lakh during the review period. In contrast, their total expenditures on household maintenance, property purchases, and other financial activities amounted to ₹1.13 crore. This has led authorities to allege an excess expenditure of ₹45.61 lakh beyond their lawful income.
The inquiry was initiated in 2021 following government directives to investigate complaints regarding disproportionate assets. During the investigation, officials examined income records, asset acquisitions, investments, and family expenses. Despite being asked to clarify the alleged excess spending, Sonkar’s explanations were deemed unsatisfactory by the investigators.
