Lucknow: Beneficiaries of the newly launched Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yatra Yojana on Wednesday welcomed the initiative launched by chief minister Yogi Adityanath , saying it would give them greater independence and make pilgrimages to destinations such as Ayodhya and Kashi more accessible.
Under the scheme, women aged 60 years and above can travel free on UPSRTC buses by showing their Aadhaar card or voter ID card. Mithana Devi of Nizampur in Lucknow said Yogi govt had introduced a facility that would ensure women no longer have to depend on others for travel.
Ganesh Devi of Gosaiganj expressed happiness over the initiative and said she would now be able to travel without worry. Rajrani said the scheme was a major gift for mothers, adding that it would enable women to travel more freely.
