Prayagraj : The hospitality landscape of Sangam city is set for another expansion with Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), which operates the Taj and Ginger brands, signing an agreement with Jagmal Group for a 100-room Ginger hotel in Prayagraj.
A much larger luxury hotel project is also taking shape in the city, with the state cabinet recently approving Ecavo Hospitality’s Rs 654.61-crore greenfield project. The hotel, to be operated by IHCL under the Gateway brand of Taj, is planned with around 158 rooms and suites, along with restaurants, banquet and exhibition facilities, a spa, gym, swimming pool, retail space and a multiplex. The integrated commercial complex, being developed by Omaxe under a public-private partnership model, is planned to include a 550-room hotel to be operated under Wyndham Hotels and Resorts’ Ramada brand. The project is estimated at around Rs 1,000 crore.
IHCL has not announced a commissioning timeline for the project.
The proposed hotel will follow Ginger’s “Lean Luxe” concept and feature spacious rooms, Qmin, the company’s all-day dining restaurant, a bar, meeting facilities and a fitness centre. The greenfield project will be developed on Jagmal Group land through its subsidiary, Jagmal Logistics and Industrial Parks Pvt Ltd, adding another branded hotel to a city witnessing growing religious, tourism and business traffic. The property is expected to cater to a mix of business and leisure travellers, besides visitors coming to the city for pilgrimage and cultural tourism. The latest signing is significant as it comes amid a wider expansion of branded hospitality infrastructure in Prayagraj. Another major project is the five-star hotel being developed as part of the redevelopment of the Civil Lines bus depot. The growing pipeline reflects the changing profile of Prayagraj after the Maha Kumbh, with religious tourism being supplemented by business travel, conferences, weddings and other events.
