Sainik School Gorakhpur has made history as the first co-educational institution in India where all students have successfully completed the Foundation Course in SCUBA Diving (Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus). This achievement marks a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to providing diverse educational experiences for its students.
A total of 460 students, including 110 girls and 350 boys aged between 11 and 17 years, underwent the training programme in Sept 2026 and successfully cleared the course. Principal Col D S Chauhan said a selected team of 30 students, comprising 10 girls and 20 boys, is undergoing advanced swimming and scuba-diving training in preparation for a sea expedition to Lakshadweep.
