At the 28th Annual General Meeting of the UP Veterans Cricket Association (UPVCA) held in Kanpur on Sunday, I.M. Rohatgi was elected as president. Girish Kapoor was chosen to serve as secretary, while Vijay Dixit will take on the role of treasurer. The election was conducted unanimously, indicating strong support for the new leadership team.
He also announced that the association’s prestigious Dr Gaur Hari Singhania UP Inter-District T20 Cricket League would be held from Oct 4, 2026, to Jan 24, 2027.
Addressing members, Rohatgi said six new districts had been granted affiliation and would now participate in the association’s activities. The newly affiliated districts are Jhansi , Mau, Muzaffarnagar, Jalaun, Etawah and Sambhal.
Rohatgi said the winning team would receive a prize of Rs 1 lakh, while the runners-up would get Rs 50,000. Following the league, the association will organise the JK Max Rama Mishra Challenger Trophy in March 2027.
Association secretary Girish Kapoor said the league would be played across four zones, each comprising two pools. All participating teams have been accommodated in their nearest zones. He added that all newly affiliated districts would take part in the tournament. Four teams will participate in the tournament, with players to be selected during the league. Former Test cricketer Gopal Sharma will oversee the player selection process during the league.
