The appointments come days after the party named BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde as Uttar Pradesh in-charge and former Gujarat MLA Jagdish Patel as co-in-charge. The party has stepped up its organisational outreach across the state, with Tawde holding a series of meetings in different regions to review poll preparedness, strengthen grassroots coordination and fine-tune election management. Ojha is regarded as a seasoned organisational hand within the party. Having begun his political journey with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the RSS-affiliated student organisation, he has served two terms as an MLA from Jharkhand’s Rajmahal assembly constituency. Verma, a Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand and a BJP national secretary, is also known for his extensive organisational experience. His appointment as co-in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, the country’s most politically significant state, is being seen as an effort by the party leadership to obtain an independent assessment of election preparedness while further strengthening organisational management ahead of the high-stakes polls.
He has previously handled key organisational responsibilities during Assembly elections in Bihar and West Bengal.
