Prayagraj : An inebriated man allegedly stabbed his 18-year-old son to death after the teenager did not study and continued using his cellphone in Kaithi village under the Karchana police station limits on Tuesday evening. The accused, Raghunandan Dwivedi (42), was later arrested, police said.
DCP (Trans-Yamuna) Vivek Chandra Yadav told TOI that the incident occurred after Raghunandan returned home in an inebriated state and asked his son, a high school student, to study, but the boy remained engrossed in his mobile phone and did not respond to his father’s queries. However, Raghunandan allegedly attacked his son with a knife, leaving him critically injured, before fleeing the house. Family members rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Upon being alerted, police arrested the accused and booked him under relevant sections of the BNS.
Irked by his son’s attitude, the father snatched the phone and scolded him. The victim’s grandfather intervened and asked the two to make up.
