Kanpur: A 45-year-old woman was killed, while her husband and son were seriously injured after five relatives allegedly attacked them with an axe and a sickle during a dispute over dumping cow dung on ancestral land in Barehta village under Jaspura police station area of Banda on Friday night. Police on Saturday registered a murder FIR against all five named accused and took one of them into custody.
Rajbahadur Nishad (50) alleged that his younger brother Rambahadur stopped his son Divyansh (11) and daughter Khushboo (14) from dumping cow dung on ancestral land, about 1 km from their house, and abused and assaulted him. Khushboo informed Rajbahadur, who was working in a field with his wife Geeta (45) and son Anil Kumar (28). Rajbahadur alleged that around 10 pm, Rambahadur, his wife Radha, elder brother Shivlochan and his wife Sakhiya and son Raju abused them before attacking Rajbahadur, Geeta and Anil with an axe and a sickle.

Circle officer Sauraba Singh said a murder FIR had been registered against all five accused on Rajbahadur’s complaint. The three returned home and confronted Rambahadur. Villagers alerted police after hearing their screams. The injured were taken to Jaspura Community Health Centre and later referred to the district hospital. Doctors declared Geeta dead on arrival, while Rajbahadur and Anil are undergoing treatment. Rambahadur was taken into custody, while police teams were conducting raids to arrest the others.
