The free travel facility will be available from the morning of August 27 until midnight on August 29, according to the govt order. One co-passenger accompanying each woman will also be allowed to travel free of charge. Under the decision, women travelling in urban buses operated under the Urban Development department will not have to pay any fare during the specified period. One accompanying passenger will also be eligible for free travel. The move is aimed at facilitating the travel of women visiting their parental homes for Raksha Bandhan without the burden of travel expenses or inconvenience. It is expected to particularly benefit sisters travelling to meet their brothers and tie rakhi.
