Bringing together nearly 16 NGOs under one roof, the fair offered a platform to organisations working across a range of social causes, while giving visitors an opportunity to support their work through shopping and engagement. The monsoon season brought with it an occasion to give back, as the British Deputy High Commission hosted the third edition of its Monsoon Charity Fair in Kolkata. From handcrafted products and homegrown offerings to initiatives highlighting the work of different communities, the event turned a rainy-day outing into an opportunity for conscious giving. The fair also brought together members of Kolkata’s social and cultural circles, with the participating organisations using the platform to showcase their work, connect with supporters and raise funds for their respective causes.
The Monsoon Charity Fair is a wonderful initiative and a great cause to support. The stalls had some really interesting products, but what makes the fair truly special is the opportunity to support so many NGOs and organisations doing meaningful work. Being able to contribute to their causes while discovering and buying from them makes this a great initiative Despite the rain, it was wonderful to see members of the community turn up in large numbers, shop for the festive season and support these organisations. It is particularly rewarding to see initiatives such as Shuktara Cakes, which creates livelihoods for people with disabilities, being supported.
