Vincent, a favorite of Spoelstra’s from Miami’s 2023 Finals run, would bring backcourt experience after a rough stint with the Lakers. The Philadelphia Sixers spent the summer building a superteam of their own around LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, and most of the offseason chatter crowned the Sixers as the team to beat. Now, at least one respected voice in NBA media thinks Miami has already caught up, and maybe passed them. Former All-Star guard Jeff Teague isn’t buying the hype around Philadelphia. Teague went further, floating that a Jrue Holiday buyout landing in Miami would settle the argument entirely, calling the Heat the best team in the East and putting them right alongside the defending champion New York Knicks. There’s a defensive angle too. Andrew Wiggins now draws the assignment of guarding Jaylen Brown, which neutralizes one of the matchup edges Philadelphia looked to have. Thompson has barely practiced with his new team, yet his signing is already the reason Teague ranks Miami above a Sixers roster loaded with star power. Richards would add rebounding behind Adebayo, while Johnson, already with the team on a two-way deal, could stick around for his locker room value. Kuminga joining feels unlikely given his contract demands, but Brown, a former Miami college player, could be a realistic reunion on a minimum deal late in free agency.
