Brittany Mahomes had only five words to describe the wild night at Arrowhead Stadium after Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Indianapolis Colts 33-30 in overtime on Sunday. The win moved Kansas City to 2-0 in the 2026 NFL season. Kansas City and Indianapolis traded leads throughout the night before the game reached overtime tied at 27-27.
“That was a game wow,” she wrote on her Instagram Story after watching her husband throw for 382 yards and three touchdowns. Brittany Mahomes watched the game from Arrowhead Stadium, and her short message captured how difficult it was for the Chiefs to close out the Colts.
The Chiefs got the first points of overtime when Harrison Butker made a 31-yard field goal, but Indianapolis answered with a 38-yard kick from Spencer Shrader. That made it 30-30 and gave Patrick Mahomes another chance to finish the game. Butker made the 40-yard field goal as time expired, giving Kansas City its second win of the season. The Colts, meanwhile, fell to 0-2 after another close game slipped away from them. Patrick Mahomes finished the game 32-of-47 passing for 382 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.
Brittany’s reaction came after a night when there was plenty to celebrate but also plenty to keep the crowd nervous. Indianapolis then kicked the tying field goal. His touchdown passes went to Travis Kelce, Xavier Worthy and Jalen Royals, giving Kansas City’s offense several ways to move the ball against Indianapolis.
The Chiefs appeared to have ended the game earlier in overtime after recovering a fumble, but a replay review overturned the call and ruled that Colts receiver Laquon Treadwell had been down before losing the ball.
After the game, he said, “I mean, I think guys were resilient, and we just strained to finish. He also admitted that the Chiefs did not execute at a high level on every possession, but said the players kept fighting and eventually found a way to win. Mahomes was pleased with the way his team stayed together when things did not go smoothly.
