Patrick Mahomes sparks emotional reactions after Chiefs star makes special Make-A-Wish visit to young fans (Via X)
Patrick Mahomes gave two young members of Chiefs Kingdom a day to remember after teaming up with Make-A-Wish and 15 and the Mahomies for a special visit. The post had already picked up more than 64,000 views along with hundreds of likes and dozens of reposts when the screenshot was captured, showing how quickly the story reached the team’s fanbase.
“Don’t take my spot, though,” Mahomes said to Myka. “I was almost in shock,” Mahomes said. Her mother, Angela, said the day made her daughter feel special and gave the family a feeling of being welcomed and seen.
The Kansas City Chiefs shared photos of Mahomes with Tyler and Stock, two young fans who are dealing with respiratory and heart challenges, respectively, while still holding on to their love for the team. Myka had been born with a congenital heart defect and underwent two open-heart surgeries as an infant. Despite facing the possibility of additional surgeries and complications, she continued to pursue her love for football and became the quarterback of her flag football team. She even dreamed of becoming the first woman to play quarterback in the NFL. The Chiefs were Myka’s favorite team, while Mahomes was the player she most wanted to meet. Make-A-Wish eventually turned that dream into a trip to Kansas City, with KC Wolf surprising Myka and her family before she traveled to meet the quarterback. Once she arrived, Myka visited the Chiefs locker room and received personalized team gear before heading onto the practice field. She met Mahomes, Travis Kelce and general manager Brett Veach, giving her the opportunity to do something that most young football fans could only imagine. The quarterback then joked with her about potentially taking his job. “You can’t throw it too good. Myka later sat down with Mahomes to break down film, including his game-winning touchdown pass to Kelce in Kansas City’s divisional-round playoff win over the Buffalo Bills. She asked Mahomes what it felt like to make that play, and his answer gave her another personal look at one of the biggest moments of his career. “I just ran to Travis and hugged him. I was just like, ‘Man, I love you. We’ll have this forever.’” The experience meant just as much to Myka’s family.
