The Los Angeles Rams have lost one of their biggest defensive stars for at least the next four games. The Rams officially placed Myles Garrett on injured reserve, meaning the veteran pass rusher will have to miss at least four games before he can return to the field. Garrett is dealing with a knee injury that has become serious enough to keep him out of action. The Rams had hoped that he could continue playing through the issue, but the team has now decided that surgery and a period of recovery are the better option. Garrett’s placement on injured reserve means he cannot return immediately. Under NFL rules, players placed on IR must miss at least four games before they are eligible to return. That means the Rams will have to prepare to play without their star defender for several weeks.

The team could also rely more heavily on its other pass rushers while Garrett works his way back. For the Rams, the immediate goal will be finding a way to keep the defense performing at a high level while one of its biggest stars is sidelined.

Because garrett had been expected to be an important part of the Rams’ defensive plans this season, the injury is especially frustrating. Head coach Sean McVay confirmed the situation and said Garrett will undergo knee surgery before beginning his recovery. Garrett is one of the most important players on the Rams’ defense, making his absence a major blow for the team. Instead, the team must now wait for him to recover. There is no need for the Rams to rush him back. Garrett will first need to recover from the procedure before returning to football activities.
