Google says the pilot is currently available to a limited number of users as it gathers feedback. Google Pay is testing a shopping feature in India. Named Discover Shop, the experience introduces a personalised fashion and lifestyle feed inside the payments app, combining product listings, YouTube videos, visual search and AI-powered virtual try-on.
Users can open individual listings to view details such as colour, size and other available options.
How can users access it on Google Pay
Google says the experience draws on its Shopping Graph, a continually updated collection of information covering more than 60 billion products. The feed combines shopping recommendations with YouTube videos. The feature requires users to be signed into a personal Google Account and have both Web & App Activity and Search Personalization switched on. Updating the app does not guarantee access, as the rollout remains limited to selected users in India. For supported products, users can open a listing and select Try it on, followed by Try on you, to see an AI-generated preview of how the item looks on them.
Google says it also plans to introduce pre-generated daily looks for outfit suggestions. Google says shoppers can use their preferred payment method there. Eligible users can browse recommendations based on their consented Google activity, upload an image to find similar products and preview how select clothing items might look on them. Product discovery takes place within Google Pay, while purchases are completed on merchants’ websites using the shopper’s preferred payment method. Access also requires a personal Google Account with Web & App Activity and Search Personalization enabled. Discover Shop gives users a dedicated space to explore fashion products and styling content tailored to their preferences. Google is also bringing visual search and virtual try-on into the experience, allowing users to explore products through images as well as browse their personalised feed. Users can check availability by updating Google Pay to the latest version and looking for the Discover or Discover Shop icon at the bottom of the screen. Those with access can open the tab to load their feed and select a product for more information. That addition is described as coming soon. To find similar styles, users can select Search and point the camera at an item. They can also upload a photograph to discover visually similar products across the web. When a shopper selects an item they want to buy, the experience directs them to the merchant’s website to complete the transaction. You use AI every day. Now get your AI Quotient.
