Robot allegedly groped the girl when she was out with her friends
The 16-year-old girl was with friends in the western German city shortly before midnight on Saturday when the roughly four-foot-tall robot approached her, according to police. Police suspect the robot’s 16-year-old owner and his 19-year-old companion of recording the alleged assault, livestreaming it and making comments during the incident.
The robot was designed in colours resembling Marvel superhero Iron Man, according to the New York Post. Both suspects are under investigation, police said. German police are investigating two young men after a humanoid robot allegedly groped a teenage girl outside a fast-food restaurant in Cologne, with the incident reportedly filmed and livestreamed on social media. The girl alerted police, who subsequently located the robot in the boot of a Volkswagen. Officers seized the device and two mobile phones belonging to the suspects. Authorities are investigating the alleged assault and seeking to establish who was controlling the robot when the incident occurred.
