Agra teen killed after failed rape bid; accused held in encounter

Agra : An 18-year-old boy from Agra was allegedly brutally murdered for resisting sexual assault at an under-construction house in Nagla Gularia, under Ramgarh police station limits of Firozabad district in UP. The accused, Akash Singh, was arrested early Tuesday morning following a police encounter during which he suffered a bullet injury to his leg.

Police said they recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol, two live cartridges, two empty shells, the victim’s mobile phone and clothes and the loader e-rickshaw used in the crime.

He was taken into custody and admitted to the district hospital,” said SP (City) Ravi Shanker Prasad. Late Monday night, police received a tip-off that Akash was hiding near Shanti Road. Acting on the information, a police team raided the location. “When the team attempted to apprehend him, Akash opened fire at them with the intention to kill. Police retaliated, shooting him in the leg.

Murder Investigation Underway Following Discovery of Victim’s Body

The body of a teenager was found naked on August 23 at an abandoned property, where family members later identified him. Following a murder complaint lodged by the family, police initiated an investigation under BNS Section 103(1), which pertains to murder, and formed three special teams to locate the suspect.

During police interrogation, the suspect, Akash, reportedly confessed to the crime. He stated that the victim had requested a ride to Nagla Gularia on the night of August 22–23. Upon arriving at the secluded location, Akash allegedly attempted to sexually assault the victim. When the teenager resisted, Akash is said to have struck him with a brick, resulting in the victim’s death. After the incident, Akash fled the scene, leaving the body behind.
