Nashik : Litigants from Pimpalgaon Baswant and nearly 30 surrounding villages will soon be able to pursue senior-level civil cases closer to home after state cabinet approved the establishment of a civil court senior division in the town.
The cabinet has also sanctioned 15 regular posts, including a civil judge senior division and supporting staff, for the functioning of the new court. The new court will hear civil suits involving claims above Rs 5 lakh, cases against state govt and matrimonial disputes, providing easier access to justice for residents of the region. “Pimpalgaon Baswant court holds historical significance dating back to the British era in 1859. The present court building opposite the bus stand was constructed in 1909. Before Nashik district was formed in 1869, judicial affairs of the region were handled from Pimpalgaon Baswant,” said advocate Ranjit Chavan, the Pimpalgaon Bar association president.

The sanctioned staff strength includes one civil judge senior division, one superintendent, two assistant superintendents, one stenographer, two senior clerks and eight junior clerks.
