The victim, Ranveer Singh , had come home from Jhansi to celebrate Rakshabandhan, according to police. an elderly man alerted them to the presence of a crocodile moving towards them While they were in the water. Sensing danger, all three youths swam towards the riverbank. However, Ranveer allegedly slipped after his leg got stuck on a stone. Within moments, the crocodile dragged him into deeper waters and disappeared from sight.

On Friday, he, along with a couple of friends, went to the river for a bath.

Upon receiving information, Garotha SDM Sunil Kumar and circle officer Piyush Pandey reached the spot with a rescue team and launched a search operation. SP Rural Arvind Kumar said SDRF personnel were continuing the search operation, but no trace of the youth had been found so far. An SDRF team joined the search operation later in the day, but no trace of Ranveer could be found. Download the TOI App.

The search was resumed on Saturday, but the victim remained untraced till the filing of the report.
