Think vintage classics, sleek BMWs and Mercedes, stately Rolls-Royces, flower-covered Ambassadors, and, for those going all out —supercars. The humble wedding ride is clearly in its statement-piece era. There was a time when the wedding car had one job: get the bride or groom to the venue without breaking down, but today it makes an entrance of its own.
Because of that, “Horses usually get scared, and there have been incidents where mishaps occurred.
Mayank, from a car rental service, says demand has grown as couples look for distinctive wedding entrances. Plus, people don’t want to use animals,” he says, pointing to the noise and loud music at weddings that often lead to the discomfort of horses. “Cars add a royal or unique touch to the wedding. This is also one of the reasons why people are shifting to cars, especially the luxury and vintage ones,” adds Mayank. The choice is mainly influenced by how a car would look in the wedding album. “People choose their car based on two things — photographs remain forever, so everything is planned keeping that in mind. Second, the brand value and colour of the car, and third, whether it ‘vibes with the event,’” wedding planner Zashak Bhatia tells us.
