Chamankar, 70, allegedly rammed his car into four vehicles on Sunday night, resulting in Satra’s death and six others suffering serious injuries. Satra, 34, was a law graduate and mother of two.
The protesters asked why Mumbai Police had not applied the charge of “culpable homicide not amounting to murder” in the Malad car crash, when it had been applied in another crash at Bandra where an eight-year-old child had died the same day. “We have given the police department 24 hours to transfer the probe from Malad to another police station and to conduct an inquiry into the investigating officer and senior inspector,” he added. Mumbai: Members of the community and BJP party workers joined the family of Malad car crash victim Priyanka Satra to protest outside Malad police station on Thursday, demanding that the accused, Krishna Chamankar, be re-arrested and stronger sections be invoked against him. Chamankar was released on bail on Monday by a magistrate court.
