Reliance Jio has launched JioPC as a standalone cloud-based computing service that allows users to upgrade the capabilities of their existing computers without buying new hardware.
Jio says even computers that are several years old can use JioPC to access the computing power needed for modern applications, including AI-powered software. Jio says users can subscribe and activate the service in less than five minutes. The service can be used on computers that are three to four years old and have started slowing down or running out of storage, according to Jio. The company also says that even an eight-year-old computer can access the performance and storage needed for AI-powered applications through JioPC, as the computing-intensive processing takes place in the cloud. Jio says the service is designed to provide access to modern computing capabilities without requiring users to purchase new hardware or carry out expensive hardware upgrades.
It is now available to anyone with an internet connection, regardless of their telecom or broadband provider. The service is aimed at users whose computers have become slow, have limited storage or are running older operating systems. JioPC is available in two configurations. The standard JioPC plan offers 8GB RAM and 500GB storage, while JioPC Ultra offers 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. All prices include GST. The service does not require users to install new hardware or move their existing data. JioPC uses cloud computing to provide additional computing resources to an existing computer. This means users can continue using their existing computer instead of immediately replacing it with a new machine. JioPC requires a stable internet connection to work. Users can access the service through broadband or a reliable 4G or 5G connection. The service is positioned for homes, schools, professionals and small businesses that want to extend the life of existing computers. One of the major changes with the launch is that JioPC is no longer limited to JioHome broadband customers. Anyone with an internet connection can subscribe to the service.
