A tragic incident occurred on Friday evening in Palghar when a 60-year-old farmer was killed after being struck by the lid of a luggage compartment on a Shivshahi bus. The lid opened unexpectedly while the bus was traveling along the Palghar-Manor road, leading to the fatal accident.
The Shivshahi bus was travelling from the Palghar depot towards Swargate via Manor at around 5.15 pm when its luggage compartment lid suddenly opened, according to police. The deceased, Subhash Pagi, was a resident of Chahade-Sajjanpada in Palghar. The lid hit Pagi with force, leaving him seriously injured. He collapsed on the road and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Pagi’s son-in-law, Anil Girhane, later approached Palghar police and lodged a complaint. Police are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the luggage compartment lid opening.
Pagi had gone to visit relatives in Devkhop on Friday morning and was walking back home when the incident occurred.
Pagi is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. His sudden death has left the family facing a difficult situation.
