Kolkata: Trinamool MLA Kunal Ghosh on Thursday questioned why Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar was still out of jail despite allegedly being seen accepting money on camera in the Narada sting operation , and said he would write to the CBI seeking action in the case.

Kunal said, “Why is Kakoli, who was seen accepting a bribe on camera, still outside? Ghosh made the remarks after appearing at Barasat Police Station in connection with a complaint lodged by Kakoli’s son, Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar, accusing him of insulting and harassing the MP and her family on social media. Police had asked the Beleghata MLA to appear within seven days. I will now write to the CBI about this. “Nabanna is now a shelter for all these traitors and turncoats. The complainant against me is Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar. They are getting the CM to file complaints against me,” he added. Baidyanath countered, “In the background of the photo posted by Kunal Ghosh, there was a photo of my mother. Besides, he has also attacked me using unprintable language. Kunal, however, said the investigating officer showed him a photograph from one of his social media posts and questioned him about it. He maintained the post mentioned no name or identity.
Kakoli hit back, saying, “He is a member of the legislature. He should know the law first. This is a very old case, it has already been settled. I took this money as a donation. The accounts have been submitted to the EC. And where that money came from, the Kalighat Trinamool knows, let Kunal say it. It is shameful how such a person comes to the legislature.”
