Elopement row: Man fires at woman’s bro, then kills self
Pilibhit : A 36-year-old man shot himself dead on Friday morning after opening fire on the brother of a 20-year-old woman who had eloped with him earlier in the week, police said. Trouble began after the young woman eloped with Mohammad Idrish (36) on Sept 16. Following a written complaint lodged on Wednesday by the girl’s brother, 33-year-old Akhilesh Kumar , who works as a sanitation worker in Nighasan town area, police registered a kidnapping FIR against Idrish.
The incident took place in Dulahi village under the jurisdiction of Padua police station in Kheri district.

Officer in charge of Padua police station, Idrish dropped the woman on the outskirts of the village the day after the case was filed, allowing her to safely return home, according to Mohit Pundir. As the confrontation escalated, Idrish pulled out a firearm and shot Akhilesh in the abdomen. Immediately afterwards, Idrish shot himself in the temple and died on the spot. Police rushed the injured man to a govt medical facility and sent Idrish’s body for autopsy. Local residents mentioned that Idrish had been married a year ago, and his pregnant wife was currently staying with her parents in Singhai area. Pundir added that the firearm used in the incident has been sent for ballistic testing to determine whether it was a licensed factory-made weapon or an illegal country-made firearm. The situation turned fatal on Friday morning when Akhilesh confronted Idrish, who lived across the road.
