HC seeks LDA reply on wide gap in two-wheeler parking fees

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Lucknow: The high court has sought a response from the Lucknow Development Authority over alleged disparities in two-wheeler parking charges across the city.

The petitioner contended that LDA charges Rs 250 per month for two-wheeler parking near a metro station, while Phoenix Mall charges Rs 300 for comparable parking. However, the monthly fee at the parking facility under challenge has reportedly been set at Rs 1,200. The matter will be heard next on Oct 26.

A bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Manjive Shukla, hearing a PIL, directed the LDA to file a reply detailing the criteria used to fix parking fees, with a specific focus on monthly rates. Raising objections, the petitioner argued there was no rational basis for such a steep difference for similar facilities within Lucknow. The court asked the LDA to clarify the standards, parameters and process followed in determining monthly parking charges and to justify the rate in question. Download the TOI App.
