GHMC finalises 4.3-km elevated corridor from Jubilee Hills checkpost: The wider industry impact

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation ( GHMC ) has scrapped plans for seven separate flyovers and underpasses around KBR Park, and has instead finalised a 4.3-km, six-lane bidirectional elevated corridor connecting Jubilee Hills checkpost with NFCL Junction at a cost of ₹1,090 crore

Officials estimate that avoiding extensive acquisition of high-value private properties will save about ₹800 crore in land acquisition costs. Another ₹400 crore is expected to be saved through the use of a streamlined elevated structure, they said.

The elevated corridor has been designed to avoid any physical footprint within the eco-sensitive KBR Park zone, officials said, thereby minimising its impact on existing green cover. “Another key feature is the use of modular steel construction technology, which will enable faster execution and reduce the duration of construction-related disruption for commuters,” a senior GHMC official said.

The unified design is also expected to significantly reduce the project’s overall cost compared with the earlier multi-component proposal.
