Agartala: Worried about the rising atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh, Tripura Gausia Committee , a prominent Islamic organisation of the state, Thursday demanded urgent action to address the issue, including the desecration of the Indian national flag.
Speaking to the media, Abdul Barik, president of the committee, said the political turmoil in Bangladesh has triggered unrest in the region. “We hope Bangladesh govt will take these concerns seriously and ensure the safety and dignity of all its citizens, especially those belonging to minority communities,” Barik said. Tripura’s Gausia Committee voiced serious concerns over escalating minority persecution in Bangladesh, including the desecration of the Indian flag. Disturbing videos circulating on social media depict attacks on homes, property destruction, and torture. The committee condemned the flag desecration as deeply painful and demanded accountability. In Madhepura, hundreds protested against the ongoing violence targeting minorities in Bangladesh. Led by Deelip Singh, the demonstrators marched through the city streets, carrying signs and chanting slogans demanding protection for the affected communities. Singh plans to submit a memorandum to the President of India, urging intervention to end the month-long violence. Hindu Sangharsh Samity protested in Agartala against the alleged persecution of minorities in Bangladesh, particularly the detention of Iskcon member Chinmoy Das. Demonstrators demanded his release and an end to religious violence, citing a stark contrast with India’s treatment of its Muslim minority.
