HEAD: 24_Ahm_HK_crimeconference Byline: Himanshu Kaushik Ahmedabad records rise in murder and breach of trust cases in 2025 Times News Network Ahmedabad: The city in the year 2025 registered an increase in cases of murder, which increased by 18.89% as compared to 204. Apart from murder, cases related to breach of trust also registered an 85.19% increase. The city reported 107 cases of murder in 2025, which was 90 in 2025, according to data tabled during the crime conference on Tuesday. Similarly, against 135 cases of breach of trust in 0224, the city reported 250 cases of breach of trust in 2025, an increase of 85.19%. The data tabled revealed that economic crimes, such as fraud and breach of trust, were 511 in 2023, increased to 656 in 2024, and further increased to 753 in 2025, showing a 47.36% increase over 3 years. In May 2024, the Police Commissioner ordered all police stations to encourage the public to install CCTV cameras, and by January this year, a total of 24,176 CCTV cameras were installed through public participation. Detection rates for crimes against persons were 98.62% in 2023, which increased to 99.22% in 2024, and 99.77% in 2025. Also, detection rates for property crimes like robbery, burglary, and theft were 36.89% in 2023, 38.10% in 2024, and 47.78% in 2025, showing a 10.89% increase over 3 years. Major crimes including murder, attempt to murder, rioting, among other recorded crimes, were 10,074 in 2024, and these decreased to 9,557 in 2025, according to the data provided. Further, crimes against persons, such as murder, attempted murder, assault, rioting, and causing injury, were 1,925 in 2024, and these reduced to 1,705 in 2025. The data table further revealed that property crimes, including robbery, burglary, housebreaking, vehicle theft, and other thefts, were 4,278 cases in 2024, and property crimes decreased to 3,807 in 2025. Crimes against women were 626 in 2023, which reduced to 490 in 2024, and it decreased to 451 in 2025, showing a 27.96% decrease over 3 years.
