Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launches Suchi Semicon facilities at the inauguration of SEMICON India 2026, in New Delhi on Thursday
The facility is among the first projects approved under the India Semiconductor Mission to move from Cabinet approval to commercial operations, the company said. Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated Suchi Semicon’s semiconductor packaging and testing facility at Palsana in Surat, marking the start of commercial production at the plant.
“Some 12 semiconductor projects had been approved under the India Semiconductor Mission and the next phase would expand India’s chipmaking ecosystem. Suchi Semicon received Cabinet approval for its OSAT project in May 2026, with Rs 868 crore in approved support. Founded in 2023, the company has commissioned Class 10K and 100K cleanrooms and completed its first customer shipment.
“The world needs new and trusted locations for chip manufacturing and India is preparing itself for this,” Modi said. Suchi Semicon chairman, Ashok Mehta, said, “The company plans to build a semiconductor packaging and testing ecosystem in Gujarat, covering technology, talent and supply chains. Suchi Semicon director, Shetal Mehta, said, “The company will focus on expanding packaging formats, strengthening its supplier base in Gujarat and developing its talent pipeline through university partnerships.”
It has also entered into a technology collaboration with Japan’s ROHM semiconductor.
