Nepal-bound gang held after trusted security guard helps burgle

The arrested are Dhirendra Prem Parihar, 25, Abhishek Thathal, 25, Ambare Dhami, 66, and Deepak Sahi, 21. GE Chandramouli, a resident of PG Street, told police the burglary happened during the night of Aug 15-16, when the family was away to attend his father’s rituals in Chitradurga district. They reportedly stole diamond, gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 1 crore. Yelahanka police, pursuing multiple leads including CCTV cameras, traced the suspects on Aug 20 on Uttar Pradesh border when they were travelling towards Nepal by train.

Chandramouli told police Sanjay, who worked as a guard and cook at the house, stayed on the ground floor along with his wife. The main accused, Sanjay Bharath Thathal, is at large. In the family’s absence, Sanjay and his associates entered the house through the terrace door.
