VELLORE: One person died and 10 others were rescued after the upper floor of an under-construction CSI church collapsed at Mandai Krishnapuram near Katpadi in Vellore district on Thursday. Officials said one more person is reportedly trapped under the debris, and rescue operations are underway on a war footing to locate and rescue the individual, news agency ANI reported. Rescue operations are currently underway to trace the person still feared trapped under the debris. Speaking at the site, the collector said a team had been formed to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident. The rescued workers were shifted to private and government hospitals in Vellore, where they are undergoing treatment. Vellore district collector Leela Alex visited the spot following the collapse and took stock of the rescue operations.
