“The accident took place around 5 pm. Bhupendra, the 26-year-old Thar driver, is a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana and owns a milk booth in Rohini. A case was registered at Delhi Cantt police station under Sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 106 (death due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Recalling the moment when things fell apart Wednesday evening, Rohit said, “I received a call informing me that my mother had met with an accident. The driver of the SUV, who is also its owner and was allegedly driving rashly, was arrested. Locals caught him after the accident and handed him over to police, who arrested him. When I reached the spot, I found that she had succumbed to her injuries. The driver was speeding and deserves the harshest punishment. We want justice for my mother.”
Chote Lal, Sukhbir’s elder brother, said he got to know about the accident after trying to reach him. “I kept calling him. Finally, a cop picked up the phone to tell me that he had died in the accident. It was just him and me in our family, no one else. I want justice.”
