New Delhi: A 64-year-old man was found dead after a fire broke out, allegedly due to a cylinder blast, in west Delhi ’s Tilak Nagar Saturday.
The deceased, a content creator on YouTube, had allegedly shared a WhatsApp suicide note and uploaded a YouTube video in which he stated that it was his last video, said police.
Police were notified of the incident after a PCR call was received around 3.25am Saturday regarding a fire and cylinder blast in Old Shahpura.
A local, Arjun Singh, told media, “We were sleeping when there was a loud blast… like an earthquake. Following this, the fire department was informed, and four tenders were deployed to the spot. After the fire was brought under control, a severely burnt dead body was found inside the premises. The person who lived in the house next to ours had set himself on fire, and the blaze damaged nearby homes as well. I heard that he had left some sort of suicide note behind in his phone. Another resident, Ankit, thought an electric pole, or an AC unit, had caught on fire. “We ran away when we heard another blast. The deceased had posted that he was committing suicide of his own will, and no one was responsible for his death. Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
Preliminary information from the fire department indicated that the fire appeared to have started after a cylinder blast. A forensics team was called to inspect the scene. The dead body has been preserved at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for post-mortem examination.
