NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party ( CJP ) leader Ashutosh Ranka on Sunday launched a fresh attack on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar following his release from preventive detention, calling him a “traitor” and declaring that he was willing to spend his life in jail to get people like him removed. In a post on X written in Hindi, Ranka said Gyanesh Kumar must resign and asserted that he would continue fighting against the CEC despite the possibility of prolonged imprisonment. “Even spending my entire life in jail is acceptable to get such traitors removed,” Ranka said.

“Gyanesh Kumar is a traitor. He will have to resign. Ranka’s post came hours after an executive magistrate in New Delhi ordered the release of Ranka, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and party leader Saurav Das from detention. The party has also demanded that the revision exercise be scrapped. Delhi Police had denied permission for the proposed demonstration, citing law-and-order concerns, public safety and possible inconvenience to residents. Download the TOI App.
