H1N1 cases rise in Delhi-NCR amid monsoon, seasonal transition: Doctors
Delhi has reported 2,308 H1N1 cases so far in 2026, while cumulative Influenza A and B cases have crossed 3,000, according to an official statement issued on Tuesday.
H1N1 is currently the predominant influenza subtype in the city, while H3N2 was the dominant strain in Delhi last year, health minister Pankaj Singh said. The Delhi government has taken measures to prepare hospitals for the seasonal increase in influenza cases, including ensuring adequate beds, doctors, medicines and essential medical equipment, according to the DMA. NEW DELHI: The Delhi Medical Association has issued an advisory as H1N1 cases rise in the national capital, urging residents to follow respiratory hygiene, avoid crowded places and seek medical advice promptly if they develop flu-like symptoms. It cautioned against taking antibiotics or antiviral medicines without consulting a qualified doctor. Authorities have also issued directions for screening, reporting and monitoring cases of influenza-like illness and severe acute respiratory infection.
