However, the facility does not include home delivery, and customers must collect their orders from the selected retail outlet within 48 hours of booking and making the online payment. NEW DELHI: Delhi residents can now book liquor bottles in advance through a mobile app developed by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), officials said on Tuesday.

The corporation operates 208 retail outlets across the capital, and the online booking facility is currently available only at its own stores. Customers must be at least 25 years old to use the app, in accordance with the eligibility requirements. Excise rules permit an individual to purchase up to nine litres of whisky and 18 litres of beer. The code can be scanned at the selected outlet to collect the liquor within 48 hours. Together, the four corporations operate more than 700 liquor vends across the capital.

The online booking facility, however, is restricted to DSIIDC-operated stores. Officials said the response to the online booking service has so far been lukewarm. However, there is no provision for returning products once they have been sold or collected, officials said. The Delhi Liquor Booking app allows customers to browse available brands, select bottle sizes and quantities, and choose a DSIIDC-operated liquor store for collection. Any expansion of the facility will depend on consumer response. Once an order is booked and paid for online, the customer receives a QR code. Customers can cancel their bookings before collecting their orders. The service is intended to reduce waiting times at liquor outlets and ease congestion at payment counters. It is also expected to improve transparency in pricing and billing while allowing customers to browse available brands before visiting a store. DSIIDC is one of four government corporations authorised to sell liquor at retail outlets in Delhi. Download the TOI App.
