However, Aadhaar linkage issues and poor awareness continue to limit the benefits for a sizeable section of beneficiaries, according to a University of Hyderabad study. The study found that 40.5% of local beneficiaries surveyed faced difficulties linking Aadhaar with their ration cards. Similar problems were reported by 38.6% of interstate migrants and 38.7% of migrants within Telangana. Despite these gaps, the study found high levels of satisfaction among users, with 87.4% of respondents expressing satisfaction with the portable public distribution system.
The study, ‘Food Security Through Ration Portability’ in the Indian State of Telangana, was conducted by Krishna Reddy Chittedi, associate professor at the School of Economics, University of Hyderabad, and Sweety Thomas.
