Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari will on Oct 11 hand over appointment letters to the first batch of newly recruited police personnel.

Nearly 12,000 cops have already been selected and the CM will hand over job letters, along with uniform, to all those who will clear their medical tests, verification and other formalities. I hope more than 5,000 police personnel will receive the benefit that day, “ said Adhikari after the cabinet meeting. The chief minister said that the cabinet on Monday cleared 14,454 new posts in various state govt departments which would be filled through the Public Service Commission and the Police Recruitment Board. The cabinet further approved an increase in the monthly honorarium of Karmabandhus—contractual workers at govt offices—from Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000.

We have cleared legal logjam associated with OBC reservation, paving the way for smooth recruitment,” Adhikari said. “The medical test, verification and other formalities are now on in full swing. Pitri Paksha is not considered auspicious. The posts are in the health and family welfare, judicial, mass education, extension and library services, forest, correctional administration, MSME and textiles, fire and emergency services, besides different wings of Kolkata and Bengal police. Adhikari added the govt would provide one lakh jobs in the current financial year and hand over appointment letters. “Employment is a huge expectation. We will provide one lakh jobs. Be assured.
