Mumbai: The Kalachowki police have registered a case against operators of three Instagram accounts for allegedly circulating a video related to a clash during the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations, claiming that the footage could create communal tension.
On Aug 29, while on day duty, Khaire was tasked with monitoring social media content that could potentially disturb public order, according to his complaint. he allegedly came across a video uploaded on Aug 26 showing a confrontation between two groups, with police personnel seen intervening to control the situation While checking Instagram. The complaint was filed by police constable Vikram Khaire attached to the Cyber Squad of Kalachowki police station. The police identified the Instagram accounts allegedly associated with the circulation of the video as @mazabappaganesha, @lalbaugparel and @lalbaugparelchag… The complainant alleged that the accounts circulated the video with the intention of misleading people and creating unrest in society. The police have registered a case based on the complaint and are investigating the social media accounts, the origin and circulation of the video and the circumstances surrounding its publication.
