Bengaluru: Motorists travelling on Ballari Road, particularly those heading towards or coming from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) through Hebbal, will have to brace for traffic restrictions and diversions for the next 18 months as Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) takes up construction of a four-lane elevated corridor between Anandnagar near Hebbal and Mehkri Circle, measuring around 1.7km. The construction work is scheduled to begin Friday and continue for 18 months. Anticipating traffic congestion on the busy stretch, police have prohibited the movement of all goods vehicles, including light, medium and heavy ones, as well as KSRTC and private buses, on Ballari Road. School buses, cars and two-wheelers can use the road as usual. To ensure smooth vehicular movement, motorists, including those travelling in emergency vehicles, have been advised to take alternative routes while travelling between Hebbal, the airport, and the city. Alternative routes to KIA Move through Old High Grounds junction (Jn), Kalpana Jn, Old Udaya TV Jn, Cantonment Railway Station, Tannery Road and Nagawara Road before heading towards the airport. Those travelling from Yeshwantpur towards KIA should take Mathikere Road, turn right at BEL Circle, and proceed via Outer Ring Road to reach the airport. From KIA to central Bengaluru Take a left turn at Hebbal, proceed towards Nagawara Jn, take a right turn and continue via Bamboo Bazaar and Queens Road to reach the city. Alternatively, take a right turn at Hebbal and proceed via Hebbal Ring Road, Kuvempu Circle and Goraguntepalya Jn. Take a left turn and continue via Dr Rajkumar Road towards the city. Vehicles travelling from Yeshwantpur towards central Bengaluru should proceed via BHEL Jn, take a right turn near Maramma Circle and continue along Margosa Road in Malleswaram.

Vehicles from Hebbal towards the city should take the service road in front of Baptist Hospital after descending Hebbal flyover. They can continue along the service road up to CBI Jn and then proceed towards the city. Vehicles from Hebbal towards Anandnagar and RT Nagar should enter the service road in front of Baptist Hospital, proceed towards Anandnagar Cross and take a left turn at CBI Jn to join Anandnagar Main Road.
