Asus has brought the new Zenbook 14 to India, and the chip you pick: The wider industry impact

Asus has brought the new Zenbook 14 to India, and the chip you pick decides more than just the price. The Intel Core Ultra 9 model (UX3480AA) costs Rs 1,67,990, the AMD Ryzen AI 7 345 version (UX3480KA) is priced at Rs 1,56,990, and the Snapdragon X model (UX3480QA) opens the range at Rs 1,36,990. Asus has also introduced the ZenMouse MD202, priced at Rs 6,999.

Every variant gets 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a 512GB SSD, Windows 11 Home and lifetime access to Microsoft Office Home 2024. It is sold through Asus Exclusive Stores, the Asus eShop, Amazon, Croma, Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales, with no-cost EMI starting at Rs 7,611 a month for up to 18 months. The chassis is made of Ceraluminum, a ceramic-aluminium blend that Asus claims is 30% lighter and three times stronger, while also resisting scratches and smudges. The laptop is 1.39cm thick, starts at 1.1kg and has passed MIL-STD-810H durability tests. The Intel model carries a 14-inch 3K Lumina OLED touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,100 nits of HDR peak brightness. All three cover 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space. The Intel and AMD chips offer up to 50 TOPS of NPU performance, while the Snapdragon chip tops out at 45 TOPS. Asus rates battery life at up to 33 hours, and the bundled 68W USB-C adapter delivers 50% charge in 30 minutes. The Intel model adds Thunderbolt 4, and the AMD one gets a USB4 port.

The laptop comes in Arctic Blue, Komodo Coral and Zabriskie Beige. This is where the variants split. The AMD version drops to an FHD+ 60Hz OLED touchscreen with stylus support, while the Snapdragon model uses an FHD+ 60Hz OLED panel without touch.

It pairs with up to four devices over Bluetooth and 2.4GHz, tracks on glass, and supports DPI adjustment between 800 and 4,200 through the MyASUS app. A single minute of USB-C charging gives it 16 hours of use, which makes it the easier pick of the two for anyone tempted by the material but not the laptop’s price. Asus calls the ZenMouse MD202 the world’s first mouse with a Ceraluminum finish. You use AI every day. Now get your AI Quotient. Take the AIQ test.
