Health authorities Thursday intercepted an aesthetic treatment event: The wider industry impact

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Bengaluru: Health authorities Thursday intercepted an aesthetic treatment event being held at a hotel near Richmond Circle and initiated an inquiry. This followed a complaint from Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL), which flagged potential risks to public safety.

Mannsi Sareen, who is a doctor, and her sister Sakshi had arrived in Bengaluru Thursday morning for the event, according to Dr Madani. They told us that they were only counselling people to travel to Delhi for further treatment and were not administering the injections here,” he said. “The administration of invasive injectable procedures requires an appropriate clinical environment, adequate infrastructure, infection-control measures and facilities to manage adverse events and complications. If procedures are being performed on premises that are not duly registered or otherwise authorised for the activity, this raises serious statutory and patient-safety concerns,” the complaint stated. Acting on the complaint, DHO Sirajuddin Madani, accompanied by food safety and drug administration officials, visited the hotel to inspect the premises. “During inspection, we found a large quantity of nutritional products and phosphocholine… We also found an empty box labelled LipoLab injections, which are generally used for weight-loss treatments.
