The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Ballari : MLC YM Satish demanded withdrawal of FIRs registered against BJP leaders and workers over special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, and sought suspension and an inquiry against two police inspectors over alleged assault of protesters.

Satish sought clarity on the authority under which police had registered an FIR against a booth-level agent (BLA)-1. He also questioned what legal action police could take when Form-7 had been submitted in accordance with Election Commission rules.

Police intervention and registration of FIRs against BJP workers were unwarranted, he said. He alleged that police personnel dragged BJP workers and tried to disperse them during Monday’s protest, leaving some injured. He also alleged that BJP district president Anil Kumar Moka was assaulted and injured by police. He also sought suspension and an inquiry against the inspectors of Brucepet and APMC police stations in connection with the incident.

Speaking at a news conference at the BJP office on Moka Road on Tuesday, Satish said the matter is related to Election Commission , and that those with objections should have approached the election officer or the commission.
