Belagavi : Principal district and sessions court has sentenced a person to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 for the 2024 murder of a youth near the forest area on the Murugod-Tallur Road. Aditya, who had taken Sohail to the forest on Tallur Road on Nov 30, 2024, on his bike, allegedly murdered him. Principal district and sessions judge Manjunath Nayak held that the prosecution had proved the charges against the accused, Aditya Balikai of Murugoda village in Savadatti taluk. Aditya and the deceased Mohammad Sohail of Kittur were friends and both were in love with the same girl. This led to mutual enmity. A case was registered at Savadatti Rural police station for the assault and murder of Mohammad Sohail. The police, who conducted the investigation, submitted a chargesheet to the court. Prosecutor Narayana Aari argued on behalf of govt.
